HOW TO MAINTAIN A SUSTAINED QIGONG PRACTICE

Like any other discipline, it requires commitment, motivation, and effective strategies. Here are some tips and insights to help you develop and sustain a consistent Qigong practice:

  1. Set Clear Goals: Define your reasons for practicing. Having clear goals will provide motivation and direction. Qigong will improve your physical health, reduce stress, increase energy, cultivate inner peace, enhance your spiritual life…
  2. Start Small: Begin with a realistic practice duration that you can comfortably manage, even on your busiest days. It can even be only 5 minutes! Consistency is more important than the length of your practice, but gradually increase the duration as you begin to enjoy it more and more.
  3. Create a Routine: Establish a regular practice schedule. Whether it’s daily, a few times a week, or weekly. Regularity helps build the habit. Select a time of day that works best for you. Some people prefer mornings for their Qigong practice, while others find evenings more relaxing, but it can be anytime.
  4. Find a Suitable Location: Find a quiet and comfortable space where you won’t be disturbedduring your meditative movements. This can be indoors or outdoors, depending on your preference and the weather.
  5. Seek Guidance: Consider taking classes and retreats to receive guidance from an experienced teacher in order to practice correctly and receive answers to your questions. But what is paramount for me and what I provide to my students is my enthusiasm and love which help them go deeper and understand the principles and the secrets of Qigong.
  6. Practice Mindfulness: Qigong involves a deep connection between mind and body. Pay attention to your movements, breath, and sensations during practice. Being present in the moment enhances the benefits and helps you all day long.
  7. Set Reminders: Use reminders or alarms to avoid missing a practice. Over time, this can help reinforce the habit.
  8. Notice Your Progress:  Your experiences, insights, and any changes in your health and well-being are a reason to remain motivated and help you track your progress. If you are attending a class it’s helpful to share the benefits and the difficulties you encounter with the group.
  9. Combine with a healthy life style: Integrating Qigong into a healthy life style will enhance its benefits, but remain flexible when absolutely necessary.

Remember that discipline takes time to develop, so be patient with yourself. The key is to find joy and satisfaction in your Qigong practice, as this will make it easier to maintain over the long term.
